Scientists have discovered a never-before-seen species of mosasaur in southern Utah, USA.
Mosasaur fossils are estimated to be about 94 million years old.
The fossil was found in southern Utah, which was part of the Western Interior Seaway during the Cretaceous period.
The Mosasaurs were a group of marine reptiles that flourished and dominated the seas during the Cretaceous period.
Some mosasaur species could grow up to 56 feet (17 m) in length.
The discovery of this new mosasaur species expands our knowledge of the diversity and evolutionary history of these marine reptiles.
The study describing the new species was published in the journal Cretaceous Research.
